ABOUT OUR TEAM

Bedford Area Ambulance Service was established in 1971 as a non-profit organization to provide emergency care to the residents and visitors of Bedford and the surrounding area. Bedford Area Ambulance Service is licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Health as a Basic and Advanced Life Support Ambulance Service. In 2009, Bedford Area Ambulance Service established its first sub-station located at the Imler Area Volunteer Fire Department to assist the residents of Imler and the surrounding area. In 2013, Bedford Area Ambulance Service answered approximately 2,000 calls for help.

 

The organization's field staff is made up of paid and volunteer Emergency Medical Responders (EMRs), Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs), Paramedics and Pre-Hospital Registered Nurses (PHRNs). Our current staff includes 12 paramedics, 39 emergency medical technicians and 4 emergency medical responders. All lead by a board of directors comprised of local business and community leaders.

OUR MISSION STATEMENT

 

The mission of the Bedford Area Ambulance Service is to enhance the quality of life for all members of the communities it serves by providing the best pre-hospital medical care available.  This mission is accomplished by engaging in partnerships with community groups of like missions, providing quality community training, providing up-to-date staff continuing education, and providing staff with state-of-the-art pre-hospital equipment.
