This is an hourly part time position with the potential of future full time hours offered and wages are determined by experience and skill level. Must have the ability to work in a seated position throughout the workday and lift/care up to 25lbs.

Duties would include but not limited to:

  • Medical records (Patient Care Report) review

  • Second phase verification of patient demographics

  • Verify PCR for correctness of origin and destination, times and mileages, etc.

  • Symptom (code) extraction form PCR

  • ICD-10 coding for symptoms, including appropriate modifiers.

  • Confirms Service Level provided and billable

  • Inbound/Outbound calls for Insurance and authorization request

  • Insurance verification

  • Insurance claims processing both electronic and paper

  • Claim follow-up and reprocessing

  • Communicating with patients, clients, and staff

  • Operating standard office equipment

  • Reports concerns or issues to the Manager

  • Computer Data entry

  • Other office tasks assigned to you including but not limited to:

  • Filing

  • Mail collection/sorting/distribution

  • Customer payment processing

  • Answering telephones


  • High school Diploma or equivalent.

  • Medical billing/coding experience - Preferred but NOT required

  • CAC Certified - Preferred but NOT required (If not currently CAC certified, training can be provided.)

  • Candidate should have exposure to all aspects of the billing industry.

  • Understanding of Billing documents (i.e. EOBs and CMS1500 forms)

  • Demonstrated knowledge of insurance carriers including federal, state, and private health plans.

  • Ability to interact professionally and productively with all levels of the organization and our clients.

  • A proactive attitude, strong team focus, and the willingness to assist coworkers.

  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills with ability to articulate messages and information, clearly and accurately.

  • High level of analytical and problem solving ability.

  • Outstanding listening skills.

  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal guidance.

  • Systems and software proficiency, including Excel and Word.

  • Willingness for continued education is a must.

  • HIPAA compliance training, if incomplete can be provided.
